Product Overview

Hermetic RF Feedthroughs

Hermetic RF Feedthroughs are specialized electrical components designed to transmit high-frequency signals through a sealed barrier, such as a vacuum chamber wall, pressure vessel, or hermetic enclosure, without compromising the integrity of the seal. These feedthroughs are critical in applications where sensitive RF electronics or systems must operate in extreme environments, including high vacuum, high pressure, cryogenic temperatures, high temperatures, and exposure to moisture or corrosive gases. Aptiv Interconnect utilizes advanced sealing technologies such as glass-to-metal seals or ceramic-to-metal brazing. These technologies ensure an ultra-low leak rate and stable electrical performance across a wide frequency range. Hermetic RF feedthroughs are indispensable in communication systems, radar, electronic warfare, particle accelerators, quantum computing, and test & measurement equipment, where signal quality and environmental robustness are paramount.

Features and Benefits

  • Exceptional Hermetic Sealing: Provides a gas-tight and pressure-tight seal (typically <1×10−8 or <1×10−9 cc/sec He leak rate).
  • High-Frequency Performance: Optimal electrical performance at RF and microwave frequencies (up to 65 GHz or higher).
  • Precision Impedance Matching: Maintains precise characteristic impedance (e.g., 50 Ω) to prevent signal reflections.
  • Extreme Environmental Resilience: Withstands harsh conditions including wide temperature ranges, high pressure, vacuum, vibration, and shock.
  • Robust Construction: Utilizes durable materials like Kovar®, stainless steel, or specialized alloys for long-term stability.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Materials and finishes resist corrosive agents, enhancing longevity.
  • Stable Electrical Characteristics: Maintains consistent RF performance across varying environmental conditions.
  • Versatile Mounting Options: Available in various configurations such as weldable, solderable, threaded, or flange mounts.
  • Interchangeability: Compatible with standard RF coaxial interfaces (e.g., SMA, SMP, SMPM, Type N, 2.92mm).
