Product Overview

Xtreme-Cat® Cables

Aptiv Interconnect offers Xtreme-Cat® cables for your underwater data network needs. Offering Cat 5e configurations, these cables are engineered to deliver high-speed network data, video, and sensor information in extremely harsh and challenging marine and subsea environments. Unlike standard Ethernet cables, Xtreme-Cat® cables are designed to maintain their flexibility and performance under significant water pressure, abrasion, and temperature fluctuations. These constructions support crucial applications such as port security, oceanographic and ocean observation instruments, ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) deployments, and other submersible data transmission needs. These cables feature Aptiv’s specially formulated "Xtreme-grade" polyurethane jackets and water-blocked designs, ensuring reliable connectivity in shallow to moderate depths of 200 meters.

Features and Benefits

  • Extreme Ruggedness & Flexibility: Features a specially formulated "Xtreme-grade" polyurethane jacket for superior abrasion and cut resistance, low coefficient of friction, and excellent flexibility.
  • Underwater Performance: Designed for submerged applications, water-blocked constructions prevent water ingress and maintain performance at depths up to 200 meters (Xtreme-Cat™) or deeper for related series (e.g., Xtreme-Net® up to 10,000 PSI)
  • High-Speed Data Transmission: Supports industry Ethernet standards ( TIA/EIA-568 B for Cat 5e) for reliable data rates suitable for 10Base-T and 100Base-T.
  • Integrated Data & Power: Many Xtreme Cat cables are composite designs, combining Ethernet data pairs with power conductors within a single cable, simplifying cabling and installation.
  • Versatile Deployment: Suitable for bottom-laid, vertical deployment, winch systems, and ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) applications.
  • Customizable Configurations: Available with optional features such as added break strength (e.g., Kevlar strength members), steel armor, and neutrally buoyant constructions.
  • Low Coefficient of Friction: The jacket material allows for easier payout and tighter bends, improving cable handling and tractor control in inspection systems.
